If prayer has felt hard

You do not have to get it right. You just have to begin.

So many people carry guilt about prayer, that they do not do it enough, do not have the right words, wander off halfway through, or are just bad at it. This series sets that guilt down. Jesus did not hand His disciples a technique; He gave them a relationship with a Father who loves to be talked to. God is not scoring your words. He honored a tax collector's seven-word cry for mercy over the polished prayer beside it, and He will meet your simplest, most honest prayer too.

Over four volumes, Jesus teaches us to pray. First we learn to come, discovering the good Father we are actually talking to and letting grace replace the guilt. Then we walk slowly through the Lord's Prayer, the pattern Jesus gave, phrase by phrase. Then we open up the many ways to pray, praise and thanksgiving, confession and asking, and the ones few of us ever learn: lament, listening, and praying for others. Finally we build a praying life that lasts through everyday moments, through unanswered prayer handled honestly, and always with help we did not know we had, because the Spirit prays through us and Jesus Himself is always interceding for us.
