For the expectant heart

The wonder is becoming real.

For a while this baby was more idea than person, a secret you carried in the dark. But now something is shifting. You are starting to show. You have shared the news, and people are rejoicing with you. And then one day, you feel it: the first tiny flutter, the unmistakable movement of a real, living little one inside you. Your heart is starting to attach in a way that can take your breath away. And underneath the joy, your body is changing in ways that are not always easy to accept, and the love you feel makes the fears feel bigger, because now you love this child so much.

Over four volumes we seek God through all of it. We let the wonder deepen and become worship, standing in awe that the God who made the stars is knitting together this little one and calling it very good. We step out of the hidden season into the light, sharing our joy as a testimony to God's goodness and beginning our calling to tell the next generation of His works. We tend the love that is growing, learning that a mother's love flows from being first loved by God, and turning that love into prayer over the child we carry. And we gather it all up with gratitude, honoring the changing body God gave us as His good design, and lifting our eyes with hope toward all that is still to come.
