Why the Ten Commandments
Most people read the Ten Commandments as a list of prohibitions handed down by a God opposed to their happiness. But consider where they came from: God gave them to slaves He had just set free, not to strangers He wished to control. Rescue came first. The commands were simply the shape of the free life He was placing in their hands.
This is not a survey kept at arm's length. It is twenty-one days of taking the Ten one at a time, straight from the text, and following them all the way to Jesus, who kept the whole law perfectly in our place and turns it from a weight we carry into a way we love. It is not about earning God. It is about learning to live like someone He already loves.
